A Look at the Supreme Court's October 2011 Term

The Supreme Court's 2011 term began a few weeks ago on Monday, October 3rd. Court-watchers might be interested in an Atlantic article (click on title link above) called "A Constitutional-Law Nerd's Take on Upcoming Supreme Court Cases," which takes a look at the SCOTUS docket for the current term.

One big item on the agenda: the court will likely rule on the constitutionality of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which has been treated differently in different federal circuits. The Court will most likely grant certiorari and review the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals case, Florida v. HHS, 648 F.3d 1235, which held the individual mandate provision of the Act to be unconstitutional. Filings related to the Act (petitions for cert and briefs) are available in PDF on the Supreme Court's website.
